Calligraphic monogram
As a part of a colloquium I have created my personal monogram. Simple, the letters A.H. as in my name - Adam Hrubý (you may imagine many other famous persons) drawn using free calligraphy and having pushed color map.
So what is this free calligraphy? Is it as free as it seems?
Calligraphy is the art of decorative writing. A style of calligraphy is described as a hand.
Calligraphy should be distinguished from the studies of epigraphy or palaeography. The study of permanent inscriptions engraved in metal or chiselled into stone and the forms of letters used in them is called epigraphy. Epigraphy is a branch of the broader study of ancient handwriting in more general terms, called palaeography. Examples of ancient Roman graffiti are of interest to both calligraphers and palaeographers.(from Wikipedia)
The free calligraphy is described as (brush) touches based on the general eyes and tags in the hand script. It could be (or was - e.g. in baroque) used as a decorative art in books to soften the regularity of the printed paragraphs.
A monogram is a motif made by overlapping or combining two or more letters or other graphemes to form one symbol. Monograms are often made by combining the initials of an individual or a company. Monograms may be used as recognizable symbols or logos. An individual’s monogram is often a very fancy piece of art for adorning luggage, clothing, and so forth.

Every artwork must start from a sketch, this one started from a bunch of blank A2 papers and a red felt pen. After hours of sketching and finding the brilliant shape I took the brush and started to draw.

I have tried many items, but again - I ended with a brush in my hand. This is the monogram drawn with an eight-size brush using black ink (one of the many touches).

You can recognize the used after-effect - pushed shadows and midtones.
I think this branch of visual art can diversify stereotypical typography or block-by-block composition by graceful and fluent curves full of ellegancy and dynamics.

I think that the red colour is well chosen. And I like that rounded line at the end of the letter H.

Well, I’m so excited, I saw this Adam’s Hard pages and I’m must say, it’s like a fetish atomic bomb, yeah!!! What a fucking style! I’m proud of my son, Adam, he seems to be great calligrapher. Huh!

we should as calligraphers do our best to understand the heritage and going parallel with fast moving time so as to minimize the gape in between, , , , nice idea

Or then there someone talking about a cure for fuckin diabetes? Where the fuck did that come from? And then there someone writing in fuckin Greek which is stupid… everyone else is writing in English and then people go and start babbling on in some totally foreign language that nobody has a clue about so it just looks like garble! This whole page is really fckn weird man! However, lovely monogram though! Love calligraphy and love doing monograms! Nicely done!
